About Us

The Chinese Arbitration Association, Taipei (“CAA”) is a non-profit organization based in Taipei, Taiwan, providing the administration of arbitration, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution under its own rules or any other rules agreed upon by the parties.

Previously known as the Commercial Arbitration Association of the Republic of China, CAA has been administering cases efficiently and impartially since its establishment in 1955. Its current name was adopted in 1998 in response to the enactment of the Arbitration Act of Republic of China. To provide the public with swift and affordable alternative dispute resolution services, CAA has also established a mediation center, as well as specialised rules for the establishment and operation of a dispute review board (DRB) and dispute adjudication board (DAB).

As a leading arbitral institution in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region, CAA administered on average 170 domestic and international cases each year over the past 15 years. Its arbitrators include renowned foreign and domestic engineers, attorneys, professors and other professionals, who are experienced in handling complex, cross-border disputes. For foreign individuals and organizations, CAA is an ideal forum for arbitration and mediation, not only because of its ability to administer bilingual proceedings (English and Chinese), but also because of its cost-competitive and efficient case management services.

CAA has also established its first foreign branch, CAA International Arbitration Centre (“CAAI”), registered in Hong Kong on 7 December 2018 as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. Our dual-track system of arbitration further expands and enhances our services in cross-border dispute resolution.
